I wish I started my journey when I was pregnant with my firstborn. I had to learn so much (make so many mistakes) to get on the road I am on now. It has taken me/us a long time to learn what is right for our family. ]]> http://theparentingpassageway.com/2010/07/20/the-beginning-is-now/#comment-4224 Tue, 20 Jul 2010 20:46:38 +0000 https://dendtler.wordpress.com/2010/07/20/the-beginning-is-now/#comment-4224 I know what you mean– I also work as a bfing peer counselor at our local WIC agency….there are so many underlying issues you can try to counsel…sometimes it is hard for me to keep the #1 task in mind…I try to be a good model; breastfeed while chatting, make it seem like “the norm”, eye contact with baby, etc. I find, as well, that so many mama’s have trouble learning to trust their baby. It is a journey, and you are forever changed, day by day. Mother-to-mother support is so important, esp. in those first few weeks when BFing can be a bit tough. Are you a LLL leader, as well?
